3.1 Make positive and specific comments about children who are working together, helping each other.
- The teacher comments on how great the music sounds when these two boys work together to make a song, selecting their own instruments and objects.
- Example: The teacher congratulates the boys on their completed airplane; adding that they worked a long time on it together. The teacher may also point out how well they listened to one another’s ideas on how the structure should be built.
- Provide opportunities for children to work together during activities and be specific when you comment on children’s cooperative behavior.
