1.4 Join children’s play and support/expand their interactions.

  1. adult and child in classroom Join in children’s play by asking open ended questions, (e.g. in this photo ask what the child is writing about.)
  2. Join in pretend play by matching facial expressions and labeling the child’s emotions
  3. Call over another child and encourage peer interaction (sharing notes to each other, showing their writing/drawing)
  4. Bridge peer interactions and help children with turn taking and expanding their play.
  5. Make yourself accessible and join children’s play as a partner.
