2.4 Include a balance of teacher-directed and child-directed activities.

Once the children invite the teacher to join their play, she may create new learning opportunities by asking questions and introducing new information such as vocabulary.

  3. Examine your schedule to ensure a balance between large and small group activities, child and teacher directed, indoor and outdoor etc. Consider the sequence. Does the schedule alternate between types of activities to support child engagement, rest periods, etc?
