3.6 Use a variety of strategies to teach children about emotion words and how to recognize emotions in themselves and others.
Use a variety of strategies and materials such as puppets or stuffed animals to role play and talk about the meaning of emotion words. This should also be used to help children identify their own emotions and the proper ways to express these emotions.
Read: "Feeling words to teach"- Teach a large variety of emotion words. Use puppets and pictures to discuss what to do with the emotions you feel.

Read and re-read books that relate to emotions you and the children may be feeling, such as a book about rainy day blues. There are many children’s books available from your local library that describe a variety of emotions or a specific emotion. You can also make your own!
